Unable to compile DataStage Job with Parallel Transformer on Windows

Troubleshooting

Problem

User is unable to compile DataStage parallel with PX transformer on the canvas. job compilatation results contains a simple “Abort” error message.

Symptom

Output from job compilation results contains an Abort error message similar to what we see here:

“Output from transformer compilation follows:

[1] + Done(134) C:/IBM/InformationServer/Server/PXEngine/bin/osh -input_charset UTF-8 -output_charset UTF-8 -collation_sequence OFF -params “DSPXWorkingDir=C:/IBM/InformationServer/Server/Projects/dstage1/RT_BP1.O;DSPXSourceDir=RT_SC1” -f RT_SC1/V35S7_CVJobMyJob.trx.osh > RT_SC1/compile.tmp 2>&1

1234 Abort C:/IBM/InformationServer/Server/PXEngine/bin/osh …”

Cause

Issue can be caused by corrupted osh.exe file.

Diagnosing The Problem

To verify that the osh executable is corrupted, please open a Windows command shell (assuming default installation location of C:\IBM\InformationServer)

1. cd C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\PXEngine
2. set APT_ORCHHOME=C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\PXEngine
3. set APT_CONFIG_FILE=C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\Configurations\default.apt
4. set PATH=%APT_ORCHHOME%\bin;%PATH%
5. Run osh and see the results. The error should similar Abort error message.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue, please restore $PXEngine\bin\osh.exe from recent backup.
